Sammy Hagar’s Chickenfoot new single “Big Foot”
Chickenfoot are finally back with “Big Foot,” the first single from the band upcoming album, “Chickenfoot III.”
Of all of the music that Hagar has made post-Van Halen, ‘Big Foot’ flies closest to the much-loved Van Hagar sound that he employed so successfully during his tenure with the group.
It’s been previously reported that Michael Anthony’s vocals would be featured more prominently on the new album. And indeed, Anthony’s harmonizing, which took so many Van Halen songs to that next level, matches with Hagar’s vocals throughout ‘Big Foot.’
The full disc hits stores September 27 and there’s talk of a tour starting in November. With drummer Chad Smith returning to the Red Hot Chili Peppers – who have their own album and tour to do – Chickenfoot is in the process of auditioning some players to see who can fill Smith’s shoes in his absence.
“That’s the biggest disappointment about the whole thing,” singer Sammy Hagar told Rolling Stone recently, adding the band has auditioned several drummers and have an audition with Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, Smashing Pumpkins). “He’s going to spend a couple days with this and were just going to jam and if he fits. It’s got to be the chemistry. Kenny can play that’s for sure and we all like him. He’s kind of like Chad – he’s kind of crazy and he hits so f**king hard that he beats his drum set to the ground that after every show he needs a new drum set.”

Chickenfoot’s new album teaser
Chickenfoot fans are expecting the new single from the band’s sophomore album, “Chickenfoot III,” sometime this month…but the band has jump-started the anticipation by sharing a short tease of something from the new disc.
The :33 clip doesn’t give up much – there’s only a hint of Sammy Hagar’s vocals to be heard – but the music sure does sound like the ‘Foot.
Earlier this week, Chickenfoot announced a new, exclusive deal with eOne Music to distribute the record in North America.
“Chickenfoot is one of the top-selling hard rock groups in the country,”said eOne Music President Alan Grunblatt. “Everyone at eOne is thrilled to be working with them.”
“I am very happy to join forces with eOne,” added Sammy. “The FOOT has landed!”
