HEAVEN ISN’T TOO FAR AWAY… Warrant Singer Jani Lane was found dead
Former Warrant singer Jani Lane was found dead in a hotel room in Woodland Hills, Calif., on Thursday (Aug. 11). No cause of death has been released for the rocker, who was 47 years old.
Lane, who had battled alcohol problems, was the singer of Warrant during the band’s formidable years in the late ’80s and early ’90s. During his tenure with the group, the hair-metal band released such hits as the ballads ‘Heaven’ and ‘Sometimes She Cries’ off the band’s debut disc, 1989′s ‘Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich,’ and the ubiquitous title track to the band’s 1990 album, ‘Cherry Pie.’
Lane left and rejoined Warrant a few times over his career, most recently parting ways with the band in 2008. He also released a solo album and a disc with an all-star side project Saints of the Underground.
More recently, Lane appeared on the VH1 reality show ‘Celebrity Fit Club.’ He also made headlines last year when he was busted for DUI and sentenced to 120 days in jail.
Only a few weeks ago, Lane taped an episode of VH1 Classic’s ‘That Metal Show’ set to air on Oct. 1
